Public Artwork

Loveland, Colorado, 2024
My drawing of a bird sitting on a stack of books was chosen as one of the pieces used in the summer learning program for Loveland Public Library in 2024. The theme "Adventure Begins at Your Library" inspired me to imagine all the adventures animals could have, especially ones that could read! My bird design was printed on a sticker and used as part of a scavenger hunt for kids. It was also printed on t-shirts.

Fort Collins, Colorado, 2023
My artwork was chosen to be featured at a bus stop in Fort Collins, Colorado in May 2023. It was exciting (and honestly, a little unreal!) to see my drawing on such a large scale. I took the city bus to my library job when I first moved here, so I had lots to say about the daydreaming that goes on while you're waiting for the bus to arrive!

When I was drawing, I was thinking about toddlers or school-age kids at the bus stop with a parent. What would they find entertaining? My basic design idea was looking at the wheels on the road and imagining what other items could be made with those same shapes. Once I knew that my design had been chosen, I kept hoping that it would be near a school where kids would see it. My wish was granted--sort of! This artwork was near the King Soopers grocery store at Elizabeth and Taft Hill, which is a stop used in part by college kids who attend Colorado State University.
